The Malta Experience has recently held its annual summer trade party with invitees coming from a selection of the industry’s stakeholders spanning tour operators, language school operators and tourist guides.
This year’s event was also synonymous with the introduction of the latest revised version of The Malta Experience audio-visual show. This new edition is produced using the latest in digital technology to bring optimum output for the visitors’ benefit. The new technology also integrates a revised theme and complementary script linking the sea as the island’s natural resource and its impact that has shaped the country’s heroic past.
Addressing some 250 guests, Martin Mercieca paid tribute to the previous successive versions (this being the 5th edition) that have shaped the organisation’s image as a reputable and highly popular heritage attraction spanning 28 years and accompanied by an estimated 4 million visitors since inception. The result of some two years in the making was now witness to the effort and creativity of the company’s in-house production team. With this new version, we have adapted the attraction to present a more dynamic and vibrant account of the island’s 7000 year history.
The evening was followed by an entertaining out-door (food and drink) party complemented by live music on the terrace overlooking the island’s magnificent Grand Harbour area.
The event proved highly successful and an opportunity to thank the trade for their continued loyalty in recommending the island’s leading audio-visual heritage attraction.
The management of ‘The Malta Experience’ recently hosted Mr Leonard Orban (EU Commissioner for Multilingualism) to view the latest version, now in digital format. His purpose on the island served to meet with various stakeholders involved in the field of languages, including academics, translators, language institutes and officials from the Ministry of Education.
Mr. Orban was accompanied by Mr Pietro Petrucci (Spokesperson), Ms Silvia Dinca (Member of his Cabinet), Dr Joanna Drake (Head of the European Commission Representation in Malta), Dr Angelo Chetcuti and Mr Stephen Gatt, both from the Office for Multilingualism within the European Commission Representation in Malta.

‘The Malta Experience’ show has been recently presented at the ‘Musée de l’Armée’ in Paris considered among the most popular historic monuments found in this beautiful capital city. An initiative of the ‘Malta Tourism Authority’, the scope of the event aimed to promote the islands’ rich and diverse heritage to a select audience of leading French tour operators. This invitation was also made possible due to a ‘Franco-Malta’ exhibition currently on show at the ‘Musée de l’Armée, Hôtel National des Invalides’, titled ‘Between the Battle Sword and the Cross’ with exhibits, among other, from the ‘Palace Armoury’ in Malta. The event was a resounding success with the audio-visual attraction receiving an encouraging applause from the audience. A cocktail reception followed in one of the restored suites housed within this historical building.

Le show de l’Expérience de Malte a été récemment présenté au Musée de l’Armée à Paris, considéré parmi les monuments historiques les plus populaires que l’on trouve dans cette belle capitale. The Permanent Secretary for Tourism Dr. Mario De Marco accompanied by MTA’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Josef Formosa Gauci and other tourism officials recently paid a courtesy visit to view ‘The Malta Experience’ heritage show. The event kicked off by presenting an outline introduction of the company’s profile across three distinct criteria – the product’s origin, product development and promotion initiatives. The healthy co-operation that exists between ‘The Malta Experience’ and the ‘Malta Tourism Authority’ in promoting the islands’ unique selling proposition were renewed. The visit served to acknowledge the company’s successful development throughout its 29th year in the making and its promotional value (at a national level), to the thousands of visitors over the years. This latest production, the company’s 5th edition, introduces the sea as the main theme linking the island’s history. The audio-visual spectacular is an excellent reproduction relating the island’s history spanning 7,000 years of varied civilisations, defeats and triumphs leading to EU accession. The attraction uses a panoramic (10 meter) screen to project sensational images of Malta with re-enacted motion clips interspersed throughout the show, now possible by the use of digital technology. “This latest version is also an opportunity for the local population to visit the attraction, be they newcomers or repeat visitors, to relive our most impressive past” commented Mr. Mercieca during his brief introduction.
